In the last blog, I mentioned how my daughter was finally out of college and had her life more in order, and as such, she wanted to resume work on the novel, with me.
We talked. She thinks that this site is a little hard to use, it's old looking, and well, it's not easy to navigate for a reader.
I don't disagree, but do I want to redo the whole site?
She had another idea, why not make a website just for the novel.
So, it's what we did.
You can find that site at: mylifesofarnovel.com.
The original 25 episodes are free to be read on the site there, or here, but the 26th episode, available right now, is only there.
We had almost 43 episodes written when we stopped. The 43rd was missing just a little bit.
All of those 43 are now scheduled to be published for free on the new site, with #43 going live on November 15th.
In short, it's 1 episode every 2 weeks.
But 5 more chapters, all written in 2025, were programmed, and two more are coming in a few days. She is writing #49, I will write #50, but we wrote #51 already. It's a major chapter, even if it doesn't feel like it to us.
Again, there is no advertisement, no tracking, no subscriptions required to read the story.
Go there is you want! It's easy.
BUT, we did create a Patreon account. You don't need to give, but all the proceeds will go to my daughter to encourage her to write more. Not just this story, but others too.
For as little as $3 per month, you can become a member, get our blogs, support us, talk to us, and get episodes 1 month earlier!
For $7 per month, you get the same, but also episodes 2 months advance. It's called the Early Bird plan. You will also get access to the members' exclusive story "the Non-Landed Club Chronicles" about people that go to the non-landed club. A sort of spin-off with fewer chapters, but a view on the lives of these people, notably Sandra, the Lifeguard in episode 30. That episode was written in 2022, but not published yet, and my daughter's hesitations about that episode was a big part of the delays. She wanted to write that spin-off from the start.
It will not start yet. We will wait for Early Bird supporters or what we make it to perhaps chapter 60 or so.
The next level for Patreon is "Lucy's friends". You get 3 months in advance the chapters, the Non-Landed Club Chronicles, but also the future story "Lucy's journals".
In short, My daughter and I will write a story from the point of view of Lucy, both her past and her present in 2025.
This will be made only if we get Lucy's friends supporters.
But even if we get no supporters at all, we will continue My Life So Far.
My daughter has other ideas, notably for other spin-offs, including about Beth, about Anna, Lisa and Robert in high school. About Billy, from his point of view, or even new characters completely unrelated to the story.
I used to write naturist stories. My daughter tries to write character stories, where the characters happen to be naturist.
It's not a coincidence, it's what I was hoping to do.
Also, she believes in internal conflict. I always wrote from an external conflict point of view.
The deserted beach was characters stuck on an island. A Fiery teenager was a girl becoming the human torch, but with no clothes to resist her fire.
In most cases, naturism is the conflict.
My daughter doesn't like that, and it's why Julie accepts naturism so fast. Not everyone will, but it will never be the main driving conflict.
That conflict, is Julie growing up, learning about the world, overcoming her problems, and so on.
That's what interests her.
And if it interests you, go read on the new site, and you really like it and would like to spare a few bucks, just sign up!
