In March 1999, the website of Stephany Conners was published and updated almost daily for 4 months. It was presented as a true diary of a 23 year old woman who just discovered her boyfriend and most of his friends were naturists. The diary received over a million visits and suddenly fell silent in June of that year. It remained a mystery for a lot of followers until the future administrator of the Naturist Fiction Archive (who had helped in the web design of the diary), received an e-mail from the original author, who admitted the diary was entirely fictionnal.
Parts of the motivation behind the creation of the Naturist Fiction Archive was to republish with the permissions of the author, the original diary.
